  • 'Prospect of the French Frigat la Felicite Capt. Denel chased Upon the Shore at the Height of 'S Gravez and by an English Frigat, the Richmond, Capt. Elphinston'. Crowded beach wth numerous horses and carriages, damaged frigate and other ships at sea.

Etching and engraving, title in English, French and Dutch.

In this action of the Seven Years War, the 'Felicite' was on her way to Martinique when she was met by the 'Richmond', Captain John Elphinstone. The action was begun at sea but continued when both ships ran ashore at Scheveningen on the Dutch coast. After the French crew fled the 'Felicite', she was boarded and set on fire. La Fargue was born at The Hague and he spent most of his life recording the local area.
