'This work was the first chronological account of the antiquities of the county, and the first book to describe, illustrate, and classify a significant number of them.' Oxford DNB. Thomas Morland Hocken [1836-1910] was a surgeon who settled in New Zealand. He was a famous collector and wrote the 'Bibliography of New Zealand Literature'.
