Title in red and black, viii+127pp; staining to top corner of first 30 leaves, small marginal tears to I3 & I4, lacking final index page.

Johannes Messenius [1579-1636] was a Catholic Swedish historian. This work gives pedigrees of the Swedish nobility. This volume has some early notes and underlining in ink. One presumes the later pencilled notes are by Henry Clements. Colonel Henry John Beresford Clements [1869-1940] of Lough Rhynn, County Leitrim, became the acknowledged expert on bindings displaying armorial and ownership devices. His collection which was bequeathed to the Victoria & Albert Museum in 1940, represents the most comprehensive collection of its kind.
