Friedrich Spanheim, the Elder [1600-1649] was a German Calvinist theologian. He attended Heidelberg University and then went to Geneva to study theology. In 1642 he became Professor of Theology at Leiden. This work gives an account of the Thirty Years War after the intervention of the Swedish king Gustavus Adolphus. The work was first printed at Geneva in 1633 and appears to have only appeared in French. There were a number of editions in 1633, the one offered here has no publisher's name or place of printing and is the same as the edition at Lambeth Palace.
